Gerald Lee Erickson
Mr. Gerald Lee Erickson, age 61 of McDonough, Georgia passed away April 15, 2014. He was born in Crookston, Minnesota to the late James William and Ellen Cecelia Millard Erickson. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota at Crookston and the University of North Dakota. Jerry faithfully served his country for four years in the United States Navy and retired after 20 years with the United States Army having served in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He then went on to work for Sprint for over ten years. Jerry was a parishioner of the Catholic Church and was a member of the VFW, MOAA and the American Legion. He was a very caring and simple man whom loved his granddaughters and family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, snorkeling and riding his motorcycle cross country and to Mexico. Survivors include his wife, Aida Erickson; children, Carl (Rachel) Erickson of Orlando, FL, Gemma Erickson of McDonough, GA and Amanda (Grant) Wilson of Valdosta, GA; granddaughters, Danica, Anna and Eliza; siblings, Sharon (Jon) Hofer of Tucson, AZ, Jim (Linda) Erickson of Bemidji, MN, Jack (Annette) Erickson of Union Lake, MN, Kathy (Dan) Holen of Baudette, MN and Bob (Noreen) Erickson of Hendrum, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted Monday, April 21, 2014 at 3:00 pm from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Father Chito Palang as Celebrant. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service. Contributions are asked to be made to Disabled Veterans Charities in memory of Jerry. Agathia Neola Hendrich Cook
Agathia Neola Hendrich Cook was welcomed into the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus, on April 14, 2014. Agathia served her Savior faithfully and lovingly through her 92 years of life.
She was a beloved and loving mother of three, grandmother of eight and great grandmother of nine. Her legacy of faith and encouragement will continue to echo through these many generations and beyond.
Born in Ramsey, Indiana, Agathia was the first child to Noble and Nita Pearl Hendrich. After graduating from Norton School of Nursing in 1944 as a Registered Nurse, she volunteered to serve in the Army Nurse Corps during WWII. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, William Clifton Cook, to whom she was married for 50 years before he preceded her to heaven in 1996.
Also affectionately known to many as “Cookie” as a nurse for Dr. Henry Steadman for nearly 40 years and a hospital volunteer at Southern Regional Medical Center for 17 years, Agathia enjoyed caring for her patients with a heart of service and compassion.
Agathia is survived by her daughter Sarah Louise Yarbrough and her husband Jim of Sunnyvale, Texas; her son David Cook, and his wife Amy of McDonough, Georgia; and her son John Cook and his wife Beth of Huntsville, Alabama. She is also survived by her sister, Lois Inman of Georgetown, Texas and was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Hendricks.
The McDonough Christian Church has been her church home for many years where she has enjoyed participating in the weekly worship and teaching and being a member of the Christian Workers Sunday School Class.
A celebration of her life and memorial service will be held at McDonough Christian Church in McDonough, Georgia on Saturday, April 19th, 2014 at 3:00 pm and will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial services are provided by Haisten Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to McDonough Christian Church for missions.
