FOREST PARK — Elected leaders in Forest Park, along with the residents they represent, will have a chance to find out how department heads plan to spend tax dollars throughout fiscal year 2015 during a pair of meetings scheduled for next month.
The city council voted unanimously this week to set May 8 and May 16 as the dates when proposed department budgets will be presented. Both meetings will take place at 6 p.m. at Forest Park City Hall, 745 Forest Parkway. The dates were picked because council members had scheduling conflicts with other dates that were suggested.
During the meetings, department heads are expected to get up one by one and explain their budget requests to council members and residents so they can be vetted publicly.
Forest Park operates on a July 1-June 30 fiscal calendar so the council will have a month and a half after the May 16 meeting to adopt a budget.
