Kemp Elementary earns school library grant

HAMPTON — The Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries has announced that Kemp Elementary is one of 15 Georgia school libraries and 219 nationwide to be awarded a share of more than $1 million in grants to expand, update and diversify their book collections.

The $5,000 grants are funded through donations to the endowment from individuals, corporations and foundations.

Kemp Elementary Library Media Specialist Sharon Schilling welcomed the funding. She said the average book in the school’s library media center dates back to 1993.

The application process is administered by The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region with guidance from The Laura Bush Foundation’s advisory committee. Learn more about the grant program at www.laurabushfoundation.org.
