JONESBORO — Clayton County and Jonesboro police are looking for an armed man who wears a mask based on a popular series of horror movies while robbing retail stores.

The suspect has been caught several times on store surveillance cameras. Police describe him as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 140 to 150 pounds. He wears dreadlocks that could be part of the mask and not his own hair, said police.

The cameras have captured him entering the stores wearing a mask from the “Scream” movies, which witnesses said has dirt on the facial area, said police. The mask consists of black cloth and white rubber.

He seems to favor solid-colored hoodies. In one photo, he wears a burgundy hoodie the displays “BAMA” on the front in reverse because he is wearing it inside out. In another, he wears a bright blue “Brown Track” pullover.

The armed robber always wears gray and white shoes with white laces, dark pants and gloves or socks on his hands, said police.

Police said the man is responsible for at least a dozen robberies and attempted robberies in the Tara Boulevard area and the corridor near Jonesboro. After robbing the Family Dollar on Ga. 138 across from International Park, the man was seen jumping into the passenger side of a dark red or burgundy Jeep Liberty or Patriot.

Anyone with information about the man can call 911, or Clayton County police at 770-477-3747 or Jonesboro police at 770-478-7407.
