MORROW — Some 7,000 students will converge on the Clayton State University campus beginning Aug. 18.
Dozens of bright-eyed freshman lined the perimeter of James M. Baker University Center Monday, waiting to receive their student IDs.
All week, they have been taking part in orientation activities on the Clayton State University campus and familiarizing themselves with their new school home.
Freshmen began moving into Laker Hall Wednesday and into Clayton Station Thursday, said spokesman John Shiffert.
The University Center commons area has been full at times. The Loch Shop bookstore on the first floor of Edgewater Hall is busy with students buying books and supplies for the semester.
New Student Convocation is Friday at Spivey Hall with President Tim Hynes giving the welcome. And Aug. 19, the university’s Office of Career Services will present its annual Student Part-time Job Fair.
The event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be on the second floor of the University Center on the indoor concourse known as Main Street. Campus-based vendors and businesses in the community will be represented.
Shiffert said that, although the event is not open to the general public, alumni are welcome.
