Forest Park police investigation suspicious death of man, 68

FOREST PARK — Police are investigating the apparent homicide of a man found dead Saturday behind an empty building on Puckett Street.

Maj. Chris Matson said Alfred Watson, 68, was found about 4:30 p.m. Watson left his home two days before to walk to a nearby convenience store, said Matson. Relatives told police it was not uncommon for Watson to walk to this store.

Matson said the body showed signs of trauma. Although police are awaiting autopsy results from the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur to show the cause and manner of death, Matson said officers are treating the death as a homicide and are asking for the public’s help in getting information.

“The Forest Park Police Department and Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta are asking the public for information regarding the circumstances surrounding Watson’s death,” he said.

Information on this case can be submitted anonymously to the Crime Stoppers tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477), online at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org or by texting CSA and the tip to CRIMES (274637).

Tipsters providing information leading to the arrest and indictment may qualify for a reward.
