Where he stands: 11th, only five points out of the top 10. Would make the Chase if the Chase for the Championship began this week.

JEFF GORDON

Car: Chevrolet, No. 24

Team: Hendrick Motorsports

Where he stands: Jeff Gordon remained atop the Sprint Cup standings for the second straight week, 10 of the last 11 weeks and 16 of the last 17 weeks. He leads Hendrick Motorsports teammate and second-ranked Dale Earnhardt Jr. by 27 points and holds a 69-point edge over third-ranked Brad Keselowski.

AMS record: 40 career starts, 5 wins, 16 top-5s, 26 top-10s, 2 poles. Best career finish: First in spring 1995, fall 1998, spring 1999, fall 2003 and summer 2011. Finished sixth in this race last year and was second in the 2012 race there.

DALE EARNHARDT JR.

Team: Hendrick Motorsports

Where he stands: Dale Earnhardt Jr. remained in second place for the second straight week after Saturday’s race at Bristol. He’s now been ranked second for six of the past seven weeks. He trails points leader and Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon by 27 points (was only three points behind heading into Bristol) and is just 42 points ahead of third-ranked Brad Keselowski (after being ahead by 80 points going into Bristol).

AMS record: 26 career starts, 1 win, 8 top-5s, 12 top-10s, 2 poles. Best career finish: First in spring 2004. Finished eighth in this race last year and was seventh in the 2012 race there.

KURT BUSCH

Car: Chevrolet, No. 41

Team: Stewart-Haas Racing

Where he stands: 22nd. Has clinched a spot in the Chase as a result of his win at Martinsville.

AMS record: Three wins and 10 top-10 finishes in 23 starts. Finished fourth last year for his fourth top-six finish in the last five races including his third win in 2010.

DENNY HAMLIN

Car: Toyota, No. 11

Team: Joe Gibbs Racing

Where he stands: 20th. Has clinched a spot in the Chase as a result of his Talladega win.

AMS record: Won the 2012 race.

BRAD KESELOWSKI

Car: Ford, No. 2

Team: Penske Racing

Where he stands: Brad Keselowski remained in third place for the second consecutive week after Bristol. He trails points leader Jeff Gordon by 69 points (was 83 points before Bristol), is 42 points behind second-ranked Dale Earnhardt Jr. (was 80 points back before Bristol) and leads fourth-ranked and Penske Racing teammate Joey Logano by 15 points.
