Three Jonesboro players scored in double figures to lead the Cardinals to a 63-38 win over rival North Clayton in a key Region 4-AAAA, Div. B contest on Saturday evening.

Scoring in double figures for the Cardinals were DeAndre Mack with 13 points, Tracy Hector had 12 points and James Walker finished with 11 points to lead the Cardinals' scoring attack.

The win avenged an earlier one-point loss to North Clayton this season.

There was a lot riding on the game as Jonesboro and Riverdale were locked into a first place tie for the subregion. WIth the win, the Cardinals are now 6-2 in the subregion while Riverdale is 5-2 after being idle this weekend because of inclement weather earlier this week. Jonesboro and Riverdale meet on Tuesday. The Cardinals won the earlier contest as Riverdale was missing three starters who were on football recruiting trips.

On Saturday, Jonesboro led 32-20 at halftime in a game that was closer in the first quarter and much of the second before the Cardinals pull away.

This was the last regular-season region meeting between the two Region 4-AAAA schools as they will be in separate regions the next two seasons. However, they will still play each other, but only for county bragging rights.
