Forest Park man killed in fight, say police

FOREST PARK — Clayton County police said an early Sunday morning shooting left one man dead and another facing charges.

Sgt. Kevin Hughes said in a press release issued Monday that Nathan Lee Adams, 42, was shot during an altercation with another man at a club at 6324 Old Dixie Road in Forest Park.

Jessie Clyde Murray Jr., 34, of Pleasantdale Road in Doraville, made his first appearance Monday in Clayton County Magistrate Court where he was denied bond. His next court appearance is March 18 for a preliminary hearing. He is charged with murder and aggravated assault.

Hughes said police responded to Benefield’s about 12:20 a.m. Sunday where they saw a “Good Samaritan” attempting CPR on a man on his back.

“Officers learned through their investigation that an altercation had taken place between the victim and another male,” Hughes stated in the release. “Mr. Adams was shot during the altercation with the male. There were several people outside the location at the time of the altercation. The investigation is still ongoing.”

Hughes said Adams was taken to Southern Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
