Mrs. Shelia Byrom

May 25, 1947 – February 17, 2014

Beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend Mrs. Shelia Suttles Byrom, age 66 of Meansville, went to heaven on Monday, February 17, 2014.

Mrs. Byrom was born in Fulton County, Georgia on May 25, 1947. She is preceded in death by parents, James H. and Lillian Nell Suttles; brother, Judson Suttles. She was retired from the Clayton County Board of Education, Transportation Department after 28 years of service. Mrs. Byrom was an active member of the Rock Springs Church, where she attended the Explore Sunday School Class, volunteered on Thursday at the Rock Springs Clinic and a member of the Choir.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Ray Joel Byrom Sr. of Meansville Georgia; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth G. and Darlene Byrom of Locust Grove, Georgia, Ray Joel and Ginna Byrom of Zebulon, Georgia; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Craig Rhodes of Eatonton Georgia, and Shay and Brent Thornton of Concord Georgia; 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; brother, Marion Suttles of Senoia; sisters, Linda Tucker of Ellenwood, Melba Freeman of Covington; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shelia S. Byrom will be on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 2:00pm at Rock Springs Church, 215 Rock Springs Rd, Milner, GA. Dr. Benny Tate will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Byrom will lie-in-state at the church on Thursday from 12 noon until the hour of service.

Willie Chester Prather, age 54, of Riverdale, GA. Passed February 14. Services February 21 at 1:00 p.m.He was born and raised in Manchester, GA. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Vernita Carter Prather, sons Kareem (Toria) Prather; Chauncey Prather; and Craig (Martina) Prather. Mrs. Leila Thornton Ball, age 79 of McDonough, Georgia passed away February 17, 2014. She was born in Camilla, Georgia to the late Charlie Cox and Clara Estella Brinson Thornton. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard and Garrett Thornton. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Berry College and a Master’s in Education from Georgia State University. Mrs. Ball taught school for 45 years, the majority at B.C. Haynie Elementary School in Morrow, Georgia and was a lifetime member of the National Education Association. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Jackson where she taught Sunday school and played piano. She enjoyed studying her Bible, sewing, cooking and taking care of her family. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Darrell Ball; children, Craig Ball of Morrow, Lynn Ball of Senoia, Keith (Teresa) Ball of League City, TX; grandchildren, Bryce and Lauren Ball; sister, Betty (Brian) Standridge of South Carolina; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Pastor Kent Martin will officiate. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
