Police looking for driver in fatal accident

RIVERDALE — A Covington man was killed in a four-vehicle accident Wednesday near the airport and Clayton County police are looking for the driver of a car that left the scene.

Officer Ron Coloma said Rafael Menchaca-Dellado, 39, was a passenger in a red Ford F-150 that flipped several times. He was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, said Coloma.

Coloma said the crash happened about 6:20 p.m. on Interstate 285 east outside the airport runway tunnel, east of Ga. Highway 139.

Three others were taken to area hospitals for treatment of injuries.

Coloma said a total of four vehicles were involved, including a tractor-trailer truck.

However, police are looking for the driver of a white vehicle that was also involved but left the scene, said Coloma. The vehicle likely has minor damage on the front passenger side, he said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information on the vehicle sought should contact accident investigator Michael Carver at 770-477-3638. Anonymous tips can be texted, along with CLAYTONPD, to 274637.
