Jonathan Celestin always had the dream of playing football for a major Div. I school.
Prior to this weekend, it only seemed like a dream that would not be fulfilled as he only had two offers - Western Carolina and Valdosta State - to chose from.
But that all changed this weekend when the former Mundy's Mill linebacker visited Minnesota.
He received and accepted an offer from the Golden Gophers coaching staff on Saturday evening. Celestin, the Clayton News Daily Defensive Player of the Year, became the second former Mundy's Mill player to commit to the program.
On Thursday evening, standout running back Rodney Smith accepted an offer from Minnesota.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Celestin was asked to move from his safety spot to middle linebacker this past season for Mundy’s Mill, which won a school-record eight games.
He led the team with 139 tackles, including 92 solo hits. In addition to his tackles, he had six quarterback hurries, two caused fumbles and one fumble recovery as the Tigers reached the Class AAAAA quarterfinals.
