MORROW — Forest Park firefighters didn’t have to wait to hear their names called as the overall winners of the inaugural Southside Firefighter’s Team Competition Saturday.

After Forest Park took first place in every event, there wasn’t much doubt who the overall winners would be. The team began walking forward to claim their prize before their names were even called.

“Does it even need to be said?” said Morrow Fire Department Capt. Jeff Moss as he announced the overall competition winner.

Forest Park bested teams from the Clayton County, Morrow and Cobb County fire departments, as well as a team made up of firefighters from around metro Atlanta — including two from Forest Park. Cobb County finished in second place while Morrow came in third.

Forest Park firefighter Andrew Duffey also took first place in the individual dressing event.

The Morrow Fire Department hosted the competition and Moss said the city hopes to make it an annual summer event.
