CONYERS – A specialty glass manufacturer in Madison has announced it will move approximately 150 manufacturing jobs to Conyers.
Marty Jones, executive director of the Conyers-Rockdale Economic Development Council, said the company, Anthony International, will move some operations to a former Hill-Phoenix plant location on Sigman Road. Jones said Anthony and Hill-Phoenix are both owned by Dover Corporation.
Jones explained that the move will help further consolidate manufacturing operations for Hill-Phoenix. He said Hill-Phoenix combined operations in May from three Conyers facilities into a new manufacturing plant on Sigman Road. Two of those previous facilities were leased, but an existing plant on Sigman Road was owned by the company. That facility will become the new location for a portion of Anthony International’s manufacturing.
Locally, Hill-Phoenix manufactures commercial freezer and refrigeration units. Jones said the glass doors for those units typically seen in grocery and convenience stores are manufactured by Anthony, among other specialty glass products.
“This will move them closer to their main production facility,” Jones said.
Jones said he and a contingent of community representatives will go to Morgan County sometime this month to reach out to Anthony employees, welcome them, and provide information about Conyers and Rockdale County. Madison is located about 30 miles east of Conyers on Interstate 20.
