Georgia State Archives is hosting a lunch and learn lecture featuring Amy Blaylock. Topic of discussion is The long lost Civil War trunk of William S. Smith. Lecture is one hour and reservations are required at georgiaarchives.org. Cost is free and feel free to bring a lunch.

Fishing Derby

Farmers Market

The Jonesboro Farmers Market will begins June 28 and runs through August. It will be open Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., Tuesdays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The market will be held in the Jonesboro City parking lot behind Heritage Bank on Mill Street.

Muster and Safety Palooza

Morrow is hosting a 5k run at 8 a.m. starting and ending at the Morrow WalMart. Following the run, there will be a firefighters muster, a competition between firefighters from surrounding departments. A Safety Palooza will feature kids games, bounce house and giveaways.

Center of Hope, 492 Roy Huie Rd., Riverdale, will be providing meals to all eligible children free of charge from June 1 until Aug. 1. Two by Two Thrift Shop

The Clayton County Humane Society’s Two by Two Thrift Shop is open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at 150 N. McDonough Street in Jonesboro. Donations are accepted. All money raised goes to benefit the humane society.
