JONESBORO — Dozens of senior citizens from across the Southern Crescent converged on Jonesboro last Friday to let loose and earn some beads.

The J. Charley Griwsell Senior Center held its annual Mardi Gras celebration last week. As usual, the senior citizens were fed traditional Louisiana dishes, such as red beans and rice and King Cake. It also included a “Funky Mask” contest, a second line and a parade where participants rushed floats in frantic bids to get colorful beads and candy.
