Forest Park Mayor David Lockhart
FOREST PARK — Council members are expected to vote Monday night on an amendment to a trash pick-up contract without a price increase for residents or businesses, said the mayor.
There was some confusion over the amendment to the city’s contract with Waste Management during the March 3 meeting, said Mayor David Lockhart.
“We thought there was no price increase and told the residents that,” he said Friday. “Somehow it was overlooked that there was an increase so I vetoed the measure and called Waste Management.”
Lockhart said he was able to work out an amendment proposal without an increase for residents or businesses.
“Businesses in the city pay a disproportionate amount in costs as it is,” he said. “We’re trying to attract businesses and get the ones here to stay. I didn’t want them to have to pay more.”
Council will vote on the amendment during Monday’s meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. There is also a Forest Park Development Authority meeting at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings are at City Hall and are open to the public.
