Riverdale bestows new honors on aspiring aviator

RIVERDALE — The honors keep piling up for for North Clayton High School senior Deja Shimone Fambro.

She received a proclamation from the Riverdale City Council in honor of her scholastic achievements Monday. The honor came less than a month after she received a resolution in her honor on the floor of the state Senate.

Fambro, who is pursuing a career in aviation, takes classes at the Aviation Career Enrichment Academy in Atlanta, participated in the 2010-2011 Delta Dream Flight program and represented Delta Air Lines at the 83rd Annual American Association of Airport Executives Convention.

The aspiring aviator has participated in North Clayton’s Distributive Education Clubs of America, Future Business Leaders of America, the morning broadcasting team, Ladies of F.I.R.E., National Art Honors Society, Green Team and co-op work study program.

Fambro, a former participant in the Morehouse Talent Search, has also participated in study abroad student ambassador trips to Barcelona, Madrid and France. She is set to participate in an Emory University study abroad program in China this summer, said her mother, Regina Nelson-Fambro.
