The third annual Jonesboro Jazz Under the Stars concert will be held at the park May 17 at 7 p.m. The annual event is part of the Atlanta Jazz Festival’s 31 Days of Jazz series. The series is a collection of jazz concerts held around metro Atlanta throughout the month leading up to the annual festival.

Each year that Jonesboro has participated in the series, residents have brought out their lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. They’ve also brought coolers filled with food and drinks with them to enjoy throughout the concert. Clayton News Daily is one of the concert’s sponsors.

Each year, three or four performers take the stage at Lee Street Park to entertain residents. This year will be somewhat different because, although the park is not being shut down, the concert will be one of the last events held there before a major renovation begins.

By the time Jonesboro officials are done with their makeover of the park, it will have an outdoor amphitheater designed to host events like the jazz concert, as well as a smaller performing area.

The park is located at the corner of Lee and Smith streets in downtown Jonesboro.
