JONESBORO — The lineup is set for this weekend’s Jonesboro Jazz Under the Stars concert at Lee Street Park.
City Councilwoman Pat Sebo said the concert is now set to run from 6:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. a the park, which is located at the corner of Lee and Smith streets near downtown Jonesboro. The featured performers include Clayton County Public Schools “Young Soul” Fine Arts Magnet Band, the Riverdale High School Jazz Band, Xavier Scott and Baatin and Top Secret.
The start time was moved up from 7 p.m., Sebo said, because of the addition of the students to the program.
Attendees who came to the park for previous Jazz Under the Stars events will remember Scott and Baatin and Top Secret because they have been on the program every year the event has been held. Baatin and Top Secret got rained out and couldn’t perform at the first concert in 2012, but they opened last year’s show. They will close this year’s show.
This is the first year high school students have participated in the event.
The concert is part of the Atlanta Jazz Festival’s 31 Days of Jazz Concert Series. Sponsors include Clayton News Daily, the City of Jonesboro, Better Buy Glass, Fulton & Kozak and Fincher, Denmark, Williams & Minnifield LLC.
