JONESBORO — School board Chairwoman Pam Adamson and Vice Chairwoman Alieka Anderson were presumed winners in the democratic primary election for the Clayton County Board of Education.
These are preliminary numbers based on early returns late Tuesday evening.
Adamson was challenged by Angel McSwain to represent District 1, while Anderson faced Jeffery Benoit for the District 8 seat.
Adamson appeared to win the District 1 seat with 58 percent of the votes with 20 precincts reporting. Anderson claimed 65 percent of the votes in the early reporting for District 8.
Michael King and Charlton Bivins were uncontested in seeking new terms as the board’s District 4 and District 9 representatives, respectively.
King received 115 votes, and Bivens earned 299 votes with 20 of 60 precincts reporting.
All results are unofficial until certified Friday.
