JONESBORO — After nearly two years, The Beach at Clayton County International Park is ready to re-open.

The water park will open its gates to the public today with all of its traditional opening day trappings including live entertainment, a fireworks celebration and — of course — kids and adults playing in the sand and in the water.

The Beach was dug up and turned into a movie set after its 2012 season so it could be used for the filming of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” County officials had planned to use it as an opportunity to renovate the attraction before the 2013 season.

Renovations began after filming was completed, but construction issues forced Parks and Recreation officials to cancel last summer’s beach season.

Admission to The Beach will cost $10 per person. Clayton County International Park is located at 2300 Ga. 138 in Jonesboro.
