JONESBORO — Animal lovers, it’s only a week away.
Quilts and Fixins’ annual Dogs and Cats Quilt Sale fundraiser for the Clayton County Humane Society will be held next Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the fabric store, 7986 North Main St. in Jonesboro. The event, which typically brings in around $16,000 for the Humane Society’s shelter, has become the largest annual fundraising activity for the group.
Items available for purchase at the sale include quilts, bags, purses, pillows, baby burp pads and cold soak ties that can be tied around the neck of a person or a pet to keep them cool during the summer.
The baby burp pads are already on sale at the store for $5 a piece.
Several items featuring University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Auburn University and the University of Alabama patterns will also be sold at the event.
In the past, quilt sale organizers have said customers have been lined up outside the door of the store, waiting for it to open, on the day of the sale.
Raffle tickets for dog and cat shaped bird houses are also on sale now at the store. The tickets can be purchased for $1 a piece, of $5 for a group of six. The raffle winner will be chosen on the day of the sale.
