This time of year, some folks get “the blues” and tend to be depressed about all the things that must be done.
In this week’s lesson, we read of Luke’s account of the Angel Gabriel appearing to a young virgin woman, telling her she had been chosen by God to be the mother of His Son, whom she was to name Jesus.
The American culture has changed dramatically in my lifetime, and I think many, if not the majority of these changes, have been detrimental to our society. One of them has been the lack of –– or at least our failure to use –– discipline.
All truths exclude their opposites. For instance, If Christianity is true, then anything opposed to Christianity is false.
Christians should be willing to perform the most menial services for one another. We should cultivate a servant-attitude in our personalities.
One U.S. troop passing through the Atlanta Airport told me a story, about his first day home — he watched the news and saw how they covered the violence and deaths and explosions, and was surprised to learn that was the end of the story, as reported. He said the killing and violence were only a part of the story.
The Bible says "the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.” In such a time, the only safe place to be is in Jesus Christ. Are you in such a safe place?
Sometimes, the Angels fly close enough to you that you can hear the flutter of their wings.
The Lord gave man a powerful group of laws — just ten simple instructions to follow as a guide for living a life that is pleasing to Him.
Praise God for Noah and his family, for they show the importance of Godly men and their families today, for they are the backbone of our nation and all other Christian nations.
It’s fine to celebrate Christmas in the traditional way, but many get much too elaborate on the Santa side, and too little on Christ’s Birthday.
Throughout the history of our great nation, our men and women of the military have given their best, both in peace time and in war.
There is proof that angels do help Christians witness to lost souls.
My Child ... You may not know me, but I know everything about you (Psalm 139).
This Thanksgiving, please observe it as a day of being thankful for all you have, especially your loved ones. And please don’t call it turkey day!
Our lives are shaped by our thoughts. Everything starts in our mind, the way we think determines the way we feel, the way we feel determines how we act — so, if we want to change the way we act or feel — we must change the way we think.
God, our Holy Father, wants us (Christians) to spend the rest of our lives developing family characteristics. He wants to make us like Jesus Christ.
We should know and feel that God wants us to tell others about Him and His Son, Jesus Christ, of Jesus’ birth, life, and His death on the cross, and certainly of His glorious resurrection –– and of how they might be saved as a result.
At one time I thought of The Big Bang Theory as something atheists had come up with. I was thinking, God is eternal, Heaven is eternal, so the universe must be eternal as well. I remember saying that The Big Bang Theory was like blowing up a spare-parts store and having it turned into a new Cadillac!
In our postmodern culture today, there are many unbelievers and skeptics who say that God did not create this wonderful world of ours, but that it evolved over the eons of time, that life evolved from single cells or molecules into our present state today. I would have to ask where these “cells” came from?
