MORROW — Morrow Police and Clayton County Sheriff's deputies are on the hunt for a pair of carjackers who wrecked a stolen SUV at the Chevron at 2355 Mt. Zion Pkwy. on July 2.

The forest-green Jeep SUV with a temporary tag was stolen from in front of the Xfinity store at 1851 Mt. Zion Road.

Morrow Police Chief James Callaway told the News, "We are currently working this. There was no chase. One of our officers found the car out in the county a short distance from our city limits," adding, "We found the car wrecked over close to Kaiser and the Chevron with the out-of-business Burger King."

A Nixle sent out by Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday said that Hill had ordered a bloodhound to track the suspects and that Morrow Police had been "involved in a vehicle chase that ended with the carjackers crashing at a Chevron gas station."

The post included a date-stamped security photo from the scene of a man who appears to be running, as well as a photo of the Jeep, which appeared to have jumped the curb into the Chevron parking lot, next to a Morrow Police SUV.

Anyone with details is asked to dial 911.
