CCPD: Woman shot in robbery at Riverdale apartment complex

RIVERDALE — Clayton County Police say a 19-year-old woman was shot in the head during an attempted robbery Sunday night at the Anthos at Chase Ridge Apartments in Riverdale.

The woman, Sijeria Parks, 19, is in critical condition, according to police who responded to a 911 call at 100 Chase Ridge Drive around 9 p.m. Parks was transported to an area hospital with at least one gunshot wound to the head.

According to CCPD’s Criminal Investigation Division, Parks allegedly “invited a male subject to her residence and attempted to rob him with the assistance of three additional suspects. During the robbery attempt, the suspects did brandish a gun, at which time the male victim fired his gun at the suspects in an attempt to get away.“

CCPD says that Parks was hit while trying to avoid the gunfire, while the man they were trying to rob was able to escape and call police.
