ATLANTA — Riverdale Councilmember An’cel Davis was awarded the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute’s Certificate of Distinction during the Georgia Municipal Association‘s annual convention in Savannah June 21. Davis was one of only eight city officials statewide so recognized.
The institute is a cooperative effort of GMA and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government and offers a nationally recognized training series for elected city officials.
The Certificate of Distinction represents completion of at least 204 credit units, at least 72 hours of which are required and from courses with the Robert E. Knox, Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute. More than 60 courses complete the program.
“This is an outstanding achievement,” said GMA Executive Director Larry Hanson. “We commend Councilmember Davis for this accomplishment and for the dedication he’s shown in using this valuable resource to become a more effective city official.”
The Georgia Municipal Association is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, research, training, employee benefit and technical consulting services to its 538 member cities.
