JONESBORO—The Jonesboro City Council will discuss rezoning annexed parcels at its 6 p.m. work session tonight.

About 70 properties that fell into one of four county zoning categories could see their zoning change under the city's zoning ordinance:

  • GB (General Business) will be rezoned as C2 (Commercial Highway District)
  • MX (Mixed Use) will be rezoned as MX (Mixed Use District)
  • UV (Urban Village) will be rezoned as MX (Mixed Use District)
  • RS-110 (Single Family Residential) will be rezoned as R-4 (Single Family Residential)

The changes are essentially technical, swapping the county's zoning designations for the corresponding city designations. City Manager Ricky Clark, Jr. said the new designations are "just bringing them in line with the corresponding city zoning categories."

The city has given notice of a public hearing on the rezoning issue. That hearing is scheduled for Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. at 170 S. Main St.
