Liberty coach Hugh Freeze is out of the hospital after dealing with a back injury and a potentially life-threatening staph infection.
The school issued a statement that said Freeze is recuperating at a hotel that overlooks the campus and is monitoring his team's progress from there via a live television feed. In addition, the football coaches are holding many of their meetings at the hotel.
According to the statement, Freeze won't return to the office for a few days.
The 49-year-old Freeze, who resigned under pressure from Ole Miss in July 2017, is in his first year at Liberty after his hiring in the offseason.
Liberty opens the season at home on Aug. 31 against No. 22 Syracuse.
