Special education information session next month

JONESBORO — Clayton schools Department of Human Resources will hold a special education teacher information session on Dec. 6.

The session will offer alternative routes to becoming a special education teacher. The meeting is from 5-6 p.m. at the S. Truett Cathy Professional Learning Center, 1087 Battlecreek Road in Jonesboro.

The session will follow the district’s Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy (TAPP) Program. TAPP targets college graduates who would like to begin a teaching career while earning their Georgia teaching certification. The TAPP meeting begins at 4 p.m.

Those wishing to attend should have at least a bachelor’s degree with a 2.5 GPA. To waive the requirement one of the following must apply:

• Bachelor’s degree earned over 10 years ago

• Current enrollment or completion of a GAPSC-approved master’s degree program

• Current enrollment or completion of a GAPSC-approved certification program.
