Unidentified man found shot in College Park

College Park Police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old man who was found lying face down in the grass, apparently dead of a gunshot.

FOREST PARK — A woman is fighting for her life after Clayton County Police say her husband shot her during a domestic dispute, then fatally shot himself.

Police responded to a 911 call at the Wyndham Hill Apartment Complex, 100 Morrow Road around 8:30 p.m. July 9. The victim, who had life-threatening injuries, was taken to a local hospital.

CCPD's Criminal Investigation Division took out warrants against the husband for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a felony.

Around 4:27 a.m. on July 10, Atlanta Police Department officers assisted on a call from Clayton County Sheriff's deputies officers, who were searching for the man at 703 Echo St. NW, Atlanta. Soon after, APD and CCSO officers found the man in a field at 552 Griffin St. NW, Atlanta. "Before contact with the suspect could be made, the male produced a handgun and shot himself," an APD spokesperson told the News. "Officers requested EMS to the scene and the male was transported to Grady Hospital, where he was pronounced dead."

CCSO is investigating the search and CCPD is investigating the original incident.
