JONESBORO — Five Clayton County Public School employees have become “airmen” this summer.

Each earned their Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. The designation allows them to fly small unmanned aircraft systems.

The certification will allow them to provide instruction for students in the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education Drone Pathway.

The district plans to begin offering the new pathway at Morrow High, North Clayton High and the College and Career Academy in 2022.

Education reporter Heather Middleton joined the Clayton News and Henry Herald in 2002.
