When Clayton County Police and U.S. Marshals tried to take a Nebraska fugitive into custody shortly after noon on Oct 8 at a house in unincorporated Forest Park, Timothy James O'Neil fired on officers. An overwhelming police response shut down the Holiday Hills subdivision and part of I-75 South at Exit 235, and officers told residents to evacuate the area. Around 3 p.m., officers fired a "chemical irritant" into the house where O'Neil was holed up and he came out and surrendered.  Southbound traffic was backed up on Tara Boulevard, as well as on Holiday Drive. No officers were injured in the incident.
