JONESBORO — Clayton County’s acting troupe The Front Porch Players presents “The Ascension of Twyla Potts.”

The story tells of Ariel Potts, a widowed woman determined to make a trip to heaven to see her beloved husband, Howard. Every year on their wedding anniversary, Ariel climbs a tree wearing her wedding gown where she believes she’s met a white dove — a sign from God.

Her daughter, Twyla, takes the annual tree stunt as a sign that it’s time her mother enter a nursing home.

How Ariel makes preparations to enter heaven and how her daughter gets her out of the tree and into a home plays out on stage.

“Whether you believe in the mysteries and the after-life or just enjoy the possibility of mystical wonders, you will love this funny and overwhelmingly touch story,” said Director Karen Ferrell-White.

All shows will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Jonesboro Family Life Center, 1842 Lake Jodeco Road in Jonesboro.
