JONESBORO — The Clayton County Solicitor General’s Office collaborated with the community to pass out more than 70 turkeys to families in need this holiday season.

Solicitor General Tasha Mosley ensured 69 turkeys were distributed to families at Rivers Edge Elementary, Hawthorne Elementary and Martin Luther King Elementary.

The turkeys were purchased by Gerry Dunn, a Clayton County citizen who helps out every year, and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement represented by Robert Ford.

Mosley also donated 10 turkeys to the CCPS Homeless Education Department.

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Psi Alpha Omega Chapter provided the baskets. The baskets also included cornbread mix, mac and cheese, green beans, corn, cake mix, frosting, yams and cranberry sauce.

The City of Lovejoy Community garden provided the fresh collard greens.
