JONESBORO — More than 55,000 Clayton County students kicked off the first day of the 2019-20 school year Monday.
Superintendent Morcease Beasley along with school officials, Board of Education members and volunteers greeted students as they arrived.
“This will be a productive year,” said BOE Chair Jessie Goree during the board’s business meeting Monday evening. “We are a board that really cares about our children. We put children first and we are active and out in the community.”
District officials thanked parents for their support “as we deepen and advance our commitment to high performance in the new school year.”
