JONESBORO — Clayton County Public Schools’ bus drivers are claiming there are problems with their pay checks.
CCPS officials said a meeting was organized by their Transportation Department to discuss the issue.
“Our transportation department and business services division are working with our drivers and monitors to address all inquiries submitted relative to their hourly pay, pay schedule and how the district compensates regular work hours, extra hours and overtime pay.
Starting salaries for regular bus drivers are $16.92 per hour and $14.28 per hour for sub drivers with six hours per day guaranteed.
Though district officials did not state the exact nature of the problem, they said in a statement that “we will continue to research on a case-by-case basis to determine where/if pay shortages or irregularities have occurred to mitigate these challenges as appropriate. We value all members of our transportation team and we appreciate their support in moving our district forward in the best interest of our students and the surrounding community.”
