McDONOUGH — Motorists should expect delays over the next couple of weeks as work crews carry out a restriping project on Interstate 75.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, TRP Construction Group of Hiram will be restriping lanes of I-75 from the Ga. Highway 155 interchange to the Walt Stephens Road overpass through the end of the month. Work was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. March 9 and be carried out in overnight shifts from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The project is designed to improve the visibility of the lanes on the interstate. While the crews are active a “rolling” lane closure will be installed, meaning that a lane of traffic will be closed around the work zone and the closure will move with the work zone as the striping vehicles travel up and down the roadway. Signage will be posted in advance of the work zone, and drivers are encouraged to slow their speeds and be alert while maneuvering into the open lanes and around the crews.
Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
