A vigil will be held in honor of Imani Bell this evening.

JONESBORO — A candlelight vigil will be held tonight in honor of Imani Bell.

Bell, 16, died on Aug. 13 at Southern Regional Medical Center. According to family Spokesman, her death was a result of an outdoor basketball practice at Elite Scholars Academy on one of the hottest days of the year.

The vigil will be held from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at Dixon Grove Baptist Church, 7690 Fielder Road in Jonesboro.

Attendees are asked to wear a shade of purple.

This weekend, the family will lay Imani to rest in a Celebration of Life Service at Hillside Chapel & Truth Center, 2450 Cascade Road SW in Atlanta, Saturday at 11 a.m.

On Friday, a viewing will be held from 2-5 p.m. at Willie A. Watkins Historic West End Chapel followed by a wake service from 6-8 p.m. at Divine Faith Ministries, 9800 Tara Blvd. in Jonesboro.
