MORROW—The Morrow City Council will discuss federal funding for Jesters Creek Trail and installation of electric vehicle charging stations at its 6:30 p.m. work session tonight.
The Jesters Creek Trail Project would acquire land between I-75 and Morrow Road to construct the project. Funding, which will come from the Federal Highway Administration, goes through the Georgia Department of Transportation. The agreement includes provisions for disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) subcontracting.
The city also will consider whether to install an electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging station at the Morrow Tourist Center. According to a proposal by Georgia Power, putting an EV charging station in Morrow "fills a void in EV infrastructure along I-75" and "modernizes (a) public amenity as part of (the) Smart City initiative."
The 500-kilowatt fast-charging station would cost $64,790 to install and would go on the FY 2020 SPLOST project list.
The council also will consider whether to extend public wi-fi access near City Hall. The move would extend wi-fi 400 feet into the park between the playground and gazebo and 400 feet into the parking lot along Morrow Road.
The City Council regular meeting follows at 7:30 p.m. and both meetings take place in City Hall Chambers, 1500 Morrow Rd.
