JONESBORO — It’s another hot one today and tomorrow isn’t expected to be much better.

Due to the heat, Clayton County Public Schools has canceled all outdoor activities to include physical education classes, unstructured play activity and athletic practices for today, Sept. 11 and Thursday, Sept. 12.

“This decision has been made based on a review of weather forecasts and local reports which indicate temperatures and humidity levels may create heat related conditions that could adversely affect students and staff. Students and staff are advised to remain indoors in a cool environment,” district officials said.

Scheduled athletic events, junior varsity football games scheduled for Sept. 11 will be played.

“Coaches must ensure that an ample water supply is available for participating student-athletes and that all players are sufficiently hydrated,” officials noted in a release.

The district will make a decision about athletic events schedules for Sept. 12 on Thursday morning.
