JONESBORO — Firefighters with Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services continue to work Wednesday morning on extinguishing a fire that consumed a tractor trailer loaded with furniture. The truck is on Interstate 75 southbound between Forest Parkway and Bob White Trail.

According to CCFES, the truck was moving furniture for four different families. Officials are not certain what caused the fire, but no other vehicles were involved.

The fire has been knocked down, but fire crews were unloading the furniture one piece at a time by hand and with the use of a Bobcat so the fire could be completely extinguished. Three fire trucks were used to extinguish the blaze with one remaining on the scene and the other two shuttling water since there are no hydrants on the interstate.
