Glenn O. Petty
Glenn O. Petty, 61 of Hampton passed away December 16, 2018. He was born October 14, 1957 in Spartanburg SC to David H. Petty and Peggy J. (Petty) Lester. He graduated from Morrow High School 1976, took some classes at Troy State University and was a Sergeant in the United States Army for 6 1/2 years. After returning from active duty in 1979, he landed a job as heavy equipment mechanic at Clayton County Maintenance Department for 20+ years. His days were spent outside in the hot Georgia sun where he worked on every machine they had. He loved sports and spent his free time watching stock car racing and all levels of football. His favorite team has always been the Bulldogs. He was always joking around and playing tricks, he lived for your reaction. He was a great storyteller and made up words and nicknames for everyone, it was hard to know what was real. But he was real, he was honest and spoke his mind. You never had to guess what he was thinking. As I said above, Glenn loved UGA football. But he loved his family and grandkids ten-fold. He was so proud of them and their accomplishments. Even though miles apart, he thought of them every day. He never missed a birthday and took time to call every chance he got. His circumstances didn't allow travel but he made sure to make himself present in their lives the best he could. Glenn's health was complicated and his time was filled with doctor appointments and medications. He passed away at home in his favorite chair. Glenn is survived by his children, Crissy (Mike) Mohr, Orion, IL; and Mike Petty, Barnesville, GA; sister, Yvonne Campbell, Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren, Jolee, Jared, Mary and Aaron Mohr and Gavin Petty; brother, Scott Petty; nieces and nephews, David, Mitchell, LeighAnn, Greg, Andy, Hannah, Alli, Josh, and Chantell, Aunts, Barbara (Ed) Bailey and Sandra (Bob) Mooney cousins, Mark Bailey, Sundra, Shane and Clint Mooney. God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be. So He wrapped His arms around you,
And whispered, "Come unto Me". Memorial Services will held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 2-4pm. SouthCare Cremation & Funeral Society, 91 Andrew Drive, Suite 100, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281
