Georgia named former Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke as offensive line and associate head coach on Tuesday.

Luke, 43, was fired on Dec. 1 after leading Ole Miss, his alma mater, to a 15-21 record. At Georgia, he will replace Sam Pittman, who was named on Sunday as the head coach at Arkansas.

"We are extremely excited and fortunate to have Matt join our staff," Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said. "He's a proven football coach who has a wealth of experience on the offensive side of the ball, especially in the offensive line. He has a great reputation among those who have played for him, and it's obvious watching his teams over many years that players love him and play hard for him."

Luke was the offensive line coach at Ole Miss (2012-16), which named him interim coach when Hugh Freeze was fired before the 2017 season. He was named the permanent coach at the end of the season. He has also served as offensive line coach at Murray State, Tennessee and Duke.

Georgia meets Baylor in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
