LOCUST GROVE — Forest Park kicked their season off with a 22-14 victory over Luella in Friday night’s scrimmage game.

The Panthers received strong performances from quarterback Rayshawn Meiser, Corzavious Smart, Mitchell McLoud and Jacwuez Bailey on offense. Defensively, Tray Johnson, Eric Foster and Elton Murphy stood out for head coach Martez Edwards.

Luella head coach Jason Jackson was happy with some things he saw from his team.

“It was a scrimmage and we still need to work on some things,” Luella head coach Jason Jackson said. “I was happy with some things and also frustrated with some things but we got better and will continue to get better.”

Luella High will take to the field for the regular season against Trinity Christian Aug. 24. Forest Park’s season opener will take place next Friday night on the road against Lithonia. Kickoff for both games is set for 7:30 p.m.
