JONESBORO - It took 21 years for Morrow to finally pick up where they left off with a state tournament berth.
It finally happened with a 39-13 victory over M.L. King last Friday to make the postseason for the first time in 21 years. The victory also marked the first winning for the Morrow Mustangs since 1998 as well.
This is also the first postseason trip for head coach Jerome Weaks at Morrow.
"I'm so proud of these guys and the way we continued to get better during the regular season," Weaks said. "We made a commitment to finishing the job and doing something special this season and we've continued to do 'legendary' things thus far. This was a great accomplishment for the Morrow High family and community. Our guys believed that we could make this run and we have completed the first part of the journey. Records do not mean anything in the postseason and we understand that we must work even harder to keep this train moving in the playoffs. Not only did we break the streak of non-postseason appearances we get to host a home playoff game. That is awesome. Go Mustangs."
The Mustangs will face Brunswick Friday night as the home team.
