COLLEGE PARK — The North Clayton Eagles (19-10) advanced to the second round of the Class AAA state basketball tournament with a 73-68 win over Tattnall County Wednesday night at North Clayton High School.

Senior Jamarcus Sanders led the way with 20 points to pace the Eagles, while junior Ahsan Asadullah added 17 points. Senior Kindle Vildor chipped in with 13 points as well.

North Clayton controlled the early part of the game, claiming a 40-30 lead at the halftime break. Tattnall County stayed in the contest in the second half by getting to the free-throw line, cutting North Clayton’s lead to 63-56 with under three minutes to play.

The Eagles were able to hold off Tattnall County in those final minutes to seal the victory and a trip to the second round.

North Clayton will travel to No. 3 Morgan County (22-4) Saturday night. The Region 8-AAA champions beat Pepperell 71-30 in the first round of the state tournament Wednesday night.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.
