Several local programs to play in Peach State Holiday Tournament at Clayton State

MORROW — Several of metro Atlanta’s top high school basketball programs will compete in the Peach State Holiday Tournament held at Clayton State from Wednesday to Friday.

The Peach State Holiday Tournament was one of the largest high school basketball tournaments in the country from 1988 to 2007. The tournament was revived in 2014.

Local teams suiting up in the event include the Mundy’s Mill Lady Tigers, the North Clayton Lady Eagles and boys programs from Eagle’s Landing, Morrow and North Clayton. Other notable programs competing in the event include Fayette County, Tucker and Westlake.

North Clayton’s girls play Colquitt County Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the boys program following with a contest against South Atlanta at 2:30 p.m. Mundy’s Mill’s girls will take the floor at 4 p.m. against Westlake. Morrow’s first game of the tournament begins at 5:30 p.m. against Lithonia.

Game times and matchups for Thursday will be determined by Wednesday’s results.

The three-day tournament will begin Wednesday at 10 a.m. with games lasting all day. Tickets are $10 and allow entry to eight games throughout the day. Tickets are discounted to $7 for middle and high school students with valid school IDs. Halftime entertainment and opportunities to win prizes will also be provided for those in attendance.
