JONESBORO — The season is young and just getting underway in Clayton County as local softball programs took to the field for the first time in 2019.

Charles Drew High (0-0)

The Lady Titans season hasn’t started according to their MaxPreps.com page but when the first pitch goes out, Charles Drew will host Riverdale High on Wednesday. The rivalry between the two schools has been intense over the past two meetings with Riverdale winning both.

Forest Park High School (0-0)

The Lady Panthers’ season kicks off this week against Mount Zion High after their Monday event against Heritage High was rained out. The Lady Panthers travel to face the Lady Bulldogs before taking on North Clayton and Morrow over the weekend.

Jonesboro High School (0-2, 0-2)

Jonesboro’s season has started with two forfeit losses according to the teams’ MaxPreps.com page. The Lady Cardinals pick up action this week as they’re scheduled to play Fayette County and McIntosh.

Lovejoy High School (0-1)

Following a crushing 15-3 loss to Sandy Creek to begin the season, the Lady Wildcats will return to action this week hosting Tucker High.

Morrow High School (0-0)

The Morrow Lady Mustangs haven’t officially gotten their season underway according to their MaxPreps.com page. Action resumes this week on the road at M.L. King before the Clayton County softball tournament over the weekend.

Mount Zion High School (1-0)

The Lady Bulldogs have some momentum entering this week as the action resumes with a home region game against Forest Park High School.

Mundy’s Mill High School (0-1)

The Lady Tigers resume play this week with two games on the schedule. Mundy’s Mill will host Creekside Christian Academy and region foe Stephenson starting Tuesday.

North Clayton High School (0-1, 0-1)

North Clayton High’s first loss of the season was a 26-4 blowout to region foe Luella High. The Lady Eagles’ season resumes with a road region game at Druid Hills High.

Riverdale High School (1-3, 1-3)

Through last week, the Lady Raiders picked up two losses as Whitewater registered a forfeit through MaxPreps.com and Fayette County scored 23 runs in the game for the win. This week, Riverdale returns to action against Griffin and Drew High.
