JONESBORO - The Lovejoy Wildcats survived their opening season battle with Banneker High School despite giving up two touchdowns in the final quarter of the 21-20 game.

Banneker scored with two minutes to go in the fourth quarter but failed to convert a two-point conversion due to the Wildcats' William Evans sacking the quarterback.

The Wildcats travel next week to face Mundy's Mill High in a much anticipated rivalry game.
